See the best in everyone..

Hello my dear readers!
I read this article on Happiness in an old paper and found it to be very nicely written. Thought that you'll like it too. Read ahead...

HAPPINESS can be spontaneous and natural but it also requires nurturing and development. What brings happiness to many of us is the simple sharing of our lives, done with pure love.

"You don't pursue happiness. It comes to you when you give it to others."

People are always happy when they are with the ones they love, especially in the absence of conflict. Some have little material wealth but are happy. Children are good cases in point.

The quality of happiness depend on how receptive we are internally. Small things like the beautiful sunset or a child's smile can make us happy. If your happiness spills over into the lives of others and uplifts them, you can consider that true happiness.

Imagine you've been asked to speak at a special occasion in celebration of someone else's life. Get help from others. Write their virtues out to make an uplifting gift. Instill in yourself the habit of seeing the best in everyone. Focus on the positive and help others to be the best they can and you will remain happy.

When we give happiness to the world, our stock of happiness increases. It creates zeal an enthusiasm, creativity and adventure!
Great work is done when we are happy.

Happiness is not in the things, people or physical comforts, but it is in the mind.

Launch of the latest currency series

Yesterday our Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, launched the new series of currency notes carrying enhanced security features.

The new banknotes come in a newly designed look with elements of the nation - culture and heritage - incorporated in them.
And more colourful too.

The RM 20 note is making its comeback in a more cheerful and sophisticated look joined by the RM1, RM5, RM10, RM50 and RM100 banknotes and also coins.
This new currency series is expected to be in circulation starting from middle of 2012, although the RM50 note is already in use. However the new coins will be in circulation starting next month.

Somehow it looks more like Monopoly or Saidina board game money to me.. haha

The currency series apparently, comes with a theme - "Distinctive Malaysia".

I can't wait to start using them.. :D

Thanks for taking your time to read my blog.. and to new readers - WELCOME !!

Pangs of Chocolate Cake Cravings.. ♥

Have you ever experienced the almost sudden feeling of longing to eat something although your not hungry.. and the intense desire to consume happens to be of that specific, one and only food ?

A-hah ! That's exactly what happened yesterday.. That very loud voice saying - won't it be nice to have some super delicious chocolate cake - at the back of my head, metaphorically speaking. hihi..

After browsing a few chocolate cake recipes, I finally found one to my liking - Moist Chocolate Cake

Its a recipe I saved from dear blogger Love2Cook's blog. It looked very moist and tempting. (actually most of her cakes and cooking are.. 'winks') Really knoeee... You might wanna check it out yourself too.

Well this is how mine turned out... Not as neat as hers, but taste wise I was contented. =)

It looks sort of messy right.. Pardon me as I'm new to cake decorating. Most of the time when I bake a cake, we'll start to dig in as soon as it just gets cool enough..

For the cake I followed all the ingredients exactly except for the egg, as we were out of eggs at home. So I used the egg substitute I found in another blog sometime ago (I can't remember which one though) and the result was still up to standard.. at least to my standard lar..

The egg substitute I used :
2 tbsp flour
1/2 tbsp shortening (I used butter)
1/2 tsp baking powder (I used bicarbonate soda)
2 tsp water

As for the topping, I used chocolate cream cheese frosting !
Tried it for the first time..

Thank you Love2Cook for sharing such a wonderful recipe.. keep sharing.. n I shall keep trying.. ♥

Dinner at Little Pantry, IOI Mall Puchong

Last night I went out for dinner with my friend at the Little Pantry in IOI Mall Puchong. I have been here once with my cousin sister. I enjoyed the food and liked the adorable ambience of the place very much, so decided to go there for dinner.

Little Pantry serves Western and Asian food in an European Home Concept.

The whole place is decorated in two dominant colours : pink & white. The interior design and decoration is very detailed and neat. All the waiter and waitress are dressed in cute matching uniforms.

And since its gonna be Christmas, a few of their waitresses were dressed in Santa's costume. The place was also adorned with Christmas deco and presents with music playing softly in the background.

The entire place looked like a fairy tale garden party location, suitable for a girly day hangout.

Their menu consists of  appetizers, Western dishes, Asian dishes, drink and DESSERTS !

~ Chocolate Milk Shake with Ice-Cream ~

~ Wild Mushroom Soup ~

~ Cheese Baked Shell Muslles ~

~ Lamb Chop ~

~ Total ~

Overall, I enjoyed the food and liked the place very much. Service was also very good.
I think it was worth it.. once in a while only right.. haha

Location:
Little Pantry,
Lot G02 & G18A, Ground Floor,
IOI Mall Puchong, Batu 9 Jalan Puchong,
Bandar Puchong, 47170 Puchong,
Selangor Darul Ehsan, Malaysia.

They are on Facebook as well : Little Pantry

Blessings of blessing others..

This article came out in yesterdays News Straits Times Paper and I wanted to share it with you.

By A. Kathirasen

Our spouses do not belong to us; our children do not belong to us
As he scooped up a few grains of  turmeric-covered rice from a platter at the wedding of a niece recently, my cousin's husband asked if I knew why rice is thrown on the couple.
Yellow, I explained, signifies auspiciousness in Indian culture.  So, when the yellow rice is showered it means a showering of auspiciousness on the couple.

In throwing the rice on the couple as the groom ties the Thaali --  a turmeric-covered string that signifies marriage -- one has to open the hand, which takes the shape of a hand in blessing.   The ancients, I said, found this a perfect way to make everyone present bless the couple, whether consciously or not.

The conversation ended with the observation that we don't bless enough.

Years ago, an acquaintance, with whom I was about to have lunch, asked:  "Praying ah? What did you actually say?"

I was reluctant to talk about it, but he persisted.

"I blessed the food, the cook and everyone who had a hand in its existence; I blessed those eating with me; I blessed my family members; I thanked God, and I prayed that all life must have food today."

He was impressed. I told him not to be impressed but to try it. When next I met him, about four years later, he said he felt so much better as a person for blessing his food, family and friends.

"I feel a certain lift in my life. People with whom I was at odds now feel more comfortable being with me," he said.

"Any other tips?" he asked. I suggested that he bless his body.

His pupils grew larger. "You're not pulling my leg, are you?", he asked. After I explained, he said, enthusiastically, that he would try it. The last time I met him, he said he was a healthier and happier person. He looked it, too.

How many of us bless our bodies? It is the only thing we have that is truly ours. The house we live in is not ours (often, it belongs to the bank); our spouses do  not belong to us, our children do not belong to us.    The body is our only real possession. We can do what we like with it. It comes with us.

Everything else is simply an application to the iPad. We install, and uninstall, these apps as and when we need them in the journey of life.

It is the body -- and here I include the mind, as the mind is but the subtlest part of the body and the body the grossest part of the mind -- that carries us through life, the silent partner that gives us shape and character.

Yet we take it for granted, or perhaps because of that we take it for granted. If at all we notice the body, it is because of some pain or illness or discomfort.

Sadly, we not only disregard the body, we often abuse it. Knowing full well the poisonous effect of smoking, some of us smoke, without regard for the vehicle that carries us around.

Knowing full well the danger of consuming alcohol, we drink, disrespecting the temple through which we think, speak and act.

When the body breaks down, we cry, sometimes we curse, or we do both.  The best way to bless the body, of course, is to take good care of it, to listen to it and act accordingly. If we do that, there can be no greater blessing.

I have encouraged my family members to bless everyone and everything first thing in the morning. I do it and it makes my day better.

Try it, you will be blessed.

And, dear reader, bless you for reading this column.
-"No matter what looms ahead, if you can eat today, enjoy today, mix good cheer with friends today, enjoy it and bless God for it."  -- Henry Ward Beecher

And here's my blessing for you readers today..

Have a blessed day !!
